Email Marketing System Overhaul at Sullivan & Cromwell
Motivation
The firm’s digital marketing team was facing inefficiencies in how client memos and internal newsletters were being distributed. The existing process was manual, time-consuming, and lacked proper segmentation or performance tracking. Leadership wanted a streamlined system that could support targeted communications and provide insights into reader engagement.
My Role & Contributions
I took the lead on both the technical and strategic sides of the project. My first step was to evaluate the current system, map the workflow, and identify bottlenecks. I proposed a new structure using the firm’s email platform, then collaborated with stakeholders in IT, marketing, and compliance to align on the solution.
- Redesigned email templates for clarity, accessibility, and responsiveness
- Developed an automated publishing flow that connected web forms to the CRM
- Built custom dashboards to track performance by segment (practice area, geography, etc.)
- Worked closely with the Associate Director to train staff and roll out the new process firmwide
Challenges
One major challenge was stakeholder alignment—different departments had competing priorities and compliance needs. I facilitated several working sessions to gather requirements and ensure the final solution met both legal standards and user experience goals. Balancing flexibility with security was key.
Results & Success Metrics
After implementation, we reduced the time to publish client memos by 40% and increased internal newsletter engagement by over 25%. Departments were able to independently manage content while maintaining brand consistency. I also received direct feedback from senior leadership acknowledging the system’s impact on efficiency and professional presentation.
This project combined problem-solving, technical implementation, and cross-team collaboration—all areas where I thrive.
